Home Again, Home Again

Well, we are home again.  It was pretty difficult to face the snow and cloudy skies after a few weeks of sunshine and warmth!  We spent two weeks in Scottsdale, AZ and we enjoyed every minute of it…. we went to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesen West, the Biosphere(thank you Norma), Tuscon, Phoenix Coyotes hockey game and we spent a lot of time wandering through Old Scottsdale.  We also took a drive north to Sedona where the rocks are really red and there are some kind of “Energy Vortexes” but my spidey senses must have been ‘off’ that day cause I didn’t  feel any additional energy.  On the way up, we stopped at Montezuma’s Castle.  There were car shows everywhere…. fortunately there was also a nail salon close by and I indulged in two pedicures during the car festivities.  Frank went to two out the three high profile car auctions that were on last week – not to buy, just to look.  We agreed that we wouldn’t bring anything home that couldn’t sit out in the snow…..or fit in our carry-on luggage.  Yep, two weeks with carry-on only….. I could have shopped til I dropped, there were factory outlets everywhere and we also went to a Swap Meet, where there were tons of cool, inexpensive gadgets and trinkets.

I didn’t get to any quilt shops, I missed the Tuscon  Quilt show by 4 days and the Road To  California show was only about 5 hours’ drive away… but I did get an eyeful of the Navajo weavings and the designs in their jewelry and the artwork.  There are art galleries everywhere…… again, good thing we had the carry-on rule – the pottery was to die for and I would have bundled up more than one woven rug to bring home.

All in all, we had a good holiday, we saw a lot and relaxed a little and I am so thankful to have had an opportunity to get away for few days!
