It’s Been an Exciting Week

We’ve had quite a week here at the Quiltworx!  We’ve had a couple more classes and are looking forward to a few more AND the Olympic Torch went by our front door on Sunday Morning AND the new Canadian Cottage Challenge fabric collection arrived today too.

We had a Quilt As You Go class last week and saw some gorgeous table runners emerge from strips of fabric and scraps of batting.  I didn’t take any pictures though….. sorry.

Today we had a Bargello class and both quilters got to the point that they could see their patterns developing.  Heather opted to make placemats and was trying to emulate a photograph of a school of salmon on a sunny day….. Marg was making a lap sized bargello and her fabrics really make her design look ‘fresh’

Here is us and the Kaytors out on the street waiting for the torch to come;

Here is the Torch arriving, I missed the torch bearers giving each other a hug, it was quite an exciting thing.  I didn’t expect to get ‘caught up in the moment’ but it did.  I was soooo excited for the young lady that lit her torch and ran past us with it proudly held high!

We came inside to have breakfast and I have to thank Dorothy for getting us into gear to make this into an event – if it weren’t for her, we would have stood out of the street for a few minutes, come back in  and that would have been it!  Dorothy can make an event out of anything!

This fabric arrived today!  It is the Canadian Cottage Collection by Robin Pandolph for RJR Fabrics.  There is a challenge attached to the collection and the details (including cash prizes) are here.  I got a bolt of each fabric and some Charm Packs that have a 5″ square of each of the 25 beautiful fabrics.
