Some Quilts from the Show last weekend

Wow, another crazy week here at the Flamingo!  Got unpacked from the show, seemed to get things put away but I think there needs some tweaking…. I wonder when I can get Suzanne to come over and do her organizational magic.

I thought I would post some pictures from the quilt show, it was a great show!

This is Elaine’s quilt, it is gorgeous and huge!  Take a look at the border treatment – mitred with blocks, quite a process I’m sure.  This was the last quilt I did before heading out to Innovations.

Here’s a close up of the feathers, and yes, that is a first place ribbon for the “Mixed Technique” category of the show!

This is another quilt by Lynne Miskell.  It won first place in the hand applique category – her handwork is amazing!  Another massive quilt, this one belongs to her daughter.  Any chance I could get adopted?

A close up of the quilting, we used a Superior Rainbows thread that sank right into the background with subtle hints of colour here and there.  Beautiful Quilt…..

Here is Linda Cassidy’s Dogwood Quilt.  Her handwork on the Dogwoods is impeccable.  And she won the second place ribbon in the hand applique category.  Linda took her Dogwoods on vacation with her everywhere the last couple of years.  The dogwood is BC’s provincial flower and Linda loves to share her BC Pride.

The fabric with the swirls and butterflies was from “In the Beginning”  and all we had to do was McTavish around the butterflies and the silk batting provided a trapunto look!
