Where has all the time gone?

August is always crazy here at the Flamingo!  We’ve had guests for weddings, family reunions, provincial swim championships and, of course, the annual dog show.  And it’s only the middle of the month!  We did manage a very quick trip to Calgary to see dear daughter Sarah’s new place – is it ever nice!  She’s very particular about keeping things tidy, please use a coaster and put your dishes in the sink.  We were able to take her some pots and pans and a microwave so now she can have more than smoothies and salads.

The day before we left, I finished quilting this quilt – a heart bargello.  Bargello quilts have always fascinated me and this one was, well, fascinating…. the colours, the perfect mitres on the borders and the outer border fabric looks like a water colour painting of beautiful flowers and butterflies.

Please accept my apologies for my photographic (lack of) skills!  This is a gorgeous quilt pieced by Debbie in Kelowna and she does great work!  The quilting is an all-over freehand flower garden incorporating butterflies and bird of paradise shapes from the border fabric.  These pictures do not do it any justice at all!  We used a wool batting to get some extra loft.
